Hybrid K9
Through its Warfighting and Special Operations pedigree, OSG understands the value and operational ‘edge’ that quality hybrid working dogs and handlers make. Numerous lives were saved and missions achieved due to the dedication, capability and bravery of the dogs and their handlers.
Given the value of this asset, and its under-utilisation in the domestic security environment, OSG has built a system for enhanced K9 operations not seen before in Australia. Through the use of highly trained and skilled former Defence Force handlers (RAAF & Special Operations) and truly hybrid working dogs employed in conjunction with advanced technology and threat fusion, OSG provides a deterrent capability and delivers operational effects/outcomes that no other provider can match.
A hybrid K9 asset (dog and handler) can provide multiple disciplines/capabilities in the one dog team – substance detection (to include explosives), attack capability, tracking capability and patrolling.
OSG has embarked on an industry leading breeding program in order to provide quality dogs for internal requirements and to supply trained assets across the southern hemisphere.
Expeditionary security services
When a business is faced with a more complex threat environment, OSG has the capability to provide highly trained, mobile Security Capabilities well beyond that of your traditional security guard.
Services we provide under this capability include:
- Hostile Activity Risk Management (H.A.R.M.)
Hostile Activity Risk Management (H.A.R.M.) unpacks and analyses the historical, prevailing and evolving threat source landscape and activity. It focuses on and deep dives into those elements which represent the greatest threat to the specific client. It then tests the client’s preparedness and response to those elements.
The criteria that underpin this process includes:
- Response effectiveness, Agility, Timeliness and, The ability to recover, repair and re-posture.
- The assessment process can involve red teaming and penetration testing at all protective layers to assess effectiveness of the system. Once this process is complete and vulnerabilities and weaknesses have been identified, mitigation measures can be implemented as part of a holistic management solution.
- The process is underpinned and further strengthened by the employment of competent and experienced security personnel that are familiar with and comfortable in hostile environments. OSG has some of the most experienced, competent and capable hostile environment operatives in the industry.
- Ground Truthing
Whilst technology has allowed remote monitoring and surveillance to reach scalability and levels of capability never before available, such technology still cannot provide the whole picture. Physical human presence is required to gain a true measure of the feel and atmospherics in a specific location. This requires ‘boots on the ground’, to interpret and analyse the actual situation.
‘Ground Truthing’ is the art of real time interpretation of the situation in a specific location. It involves not only direct observation but also the understanding and interpretation of the pattern of life, atmospherics, hazards and obstacles as well as the human landscape. It requires discretion, tact and good situational consciousness.
OSG are skilled proponents of discrete Ground Truthing in all environments.
- Remote Area Integrated Logistics (R.A.I.L.)
Gaining access to and sustaining a presence in remote areas remains a challenge, particularly in a resource and time constrained world. Orion’s unique capability to support remote activities and operations logistically is underpinned by its ability to gain access and project into remote locations.
- Country evacuations and contingency planning
OSG has the reach, resources and experience to successfully conduct complex country evacuations in deteriorating circumstances. We have extensive experience in conducting complex extraction and evacuation tasks in a number of regions across the world. Having conducted evacuations across the Middle East during the Arab Spring of 2011, Libya during heightened Militia activity in 2017/2018, north-western Iraq during 2018, PNG, Cambodia, Solomon Islands and French Polynesia, OSG understands what is required from a resource, planning and task execution perspective in order to achieve a successful outcome.
